Two years have passed since Daniel C. Hopkins hanged himself in a holding cell at Hackensack police headquarters, and his mother remains heartbroken, disbelieving and confused. His mother, Nicole Hatton has filed a wrongful-death action in state Superior Court alleging in part that officers failed both to monitor Hopkins while he was in his cell and to quickly get him medical aid.
