The DU club figure skating team qualified for nationals after compiling enough points to lock up 1st place in the Pacific Coast Section. The Pacific Coast Section is one of three sections in collegiate club skating.

In 2006, Alexandre Hamel had become disenchanted with his life as a professional skater for Disney on Ice. So Hamel created “contemporary skating,” a hybrid of figure skating and modern dance that he believes is entirely his own innovation.
